Official Opening of INNOFEIT EDIH – North Macedonia’s First European Digital Innovation Hub

On January 31, 2025, the official opening of INNOFEIT EDIH marked a key step in North Macedonia’s digital transformation and integration into the EDIH network. Led by the Center for Technology Transfer and Innovation – INNOFEIT, part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies (FEEIT) at UKIM, the hub will drive innovation, support digitalization for businesses and public institutions, and foster collaboration across sectors.

Opening speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Tashkovski, Managing Director of INNOFEIT; Prof. Dr. Biljana Angelova, Rector of UKIM; Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska, Minister of Education and Science; and Mr. Stefan Andonovski, Minister of Digital Transformation. They emphasized INNOFEIT EDIH’s critical role in bridging cutting-edge technologies with the needs of SMEs, public sector organizations, and academia, while promoting sustainability, competitiveness, and innovation in the region.

Following the opening ceremony, a panel discussion addressed the role of European Digital Innovation Hubs in fostering digital transformation and collaboration. Moderated by Prof. Dr. Vladimir Atanasovski, Dean of FEIT, the discussion featured Mr. Stefan Andonovski; Prof. Dr. Vesna Janevska; Prof. Dr. Orce Simov, Vice-president of the Union of Chamber of Commerce; Prof. Dr. Sasho Koceski, Dean of the Faculty of Informatics at Goce Delchev University; and Mr. Slobodan Jovanovski, Managing Director of Kontron.

Co-financed by the EU and the Government of North Macedonia, INNOFEIT EDIH unites academia, industry, and government. It positions the country as a regional leader in digital innovation and a key contributor to the European innovation ecosystem.
