4ACEs WebApp

The 4ACEs WebApp was developed as a proof-of-concept tool within the AI Apps Against Alzheimer in Central Europe (4ACEs) project for the cognitive training of individuals with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The application uses AI-generated synthetic speech to read prompts that users must match with specific images, thereby stimulating memory and higher cognitive functions.

The base language is English, but the app is has deep localization into Polish, Slovak, Hungarian, Macedonian. This goes beyond simple translation and includes incorporating culturally specific objects and idiomatic expressions. Moreover, the Polish version uses metaphors to test abstract thinking, such as identifying that the speaker is talking about facing a difficult problem when hearing the phrase of biting a hard nut. A live version of the 4ACEs WebApp can be found at https://4aces.feit.ukim.edu.mk

The 4ACEs WebApp was showcased at the Assistive Technology Conference ASTEK 2025 that took place on 14 November 2025 in Belgrade, Serbia. This served as a major dissemination platform for the project and the International Visegrad Fund in the Western Balkans region. To increase the impact of our presentation, we expanded the app and added a Serbian locale.

The 4ACEs WebApp is realeased as free software and is available on GitHub. With this we want to ensure the project’s sustainability, allowing the wider scientific and caregiving communities to build upon the set foundations and continue beyond the scope of the 4ACEs project.
